Pixlr Image Tutorial - Background Image Removal
Welcome to my Pixlr tutorial demonstrating how to remove backgrounds from images.
Pixlr is an extremely powerful, free to use web based, open source application. It can do most of the things that Photoshop can do, and in my opinion is a lot easier and more intuitive to use.
Tutorial Step 1 - go to www.pixlr.com/editor
step 2 - open image of your choosing
step 3 - Unlock layer on right hand side
Step 4 - Choose lasso tool
Step 5 - Change from freehand lasso to polygnal lasso
Step 6 - Create anchor points around image, more anchor points makes for a smother image.
Step 7 - Close lasso by long clicking, or double clicking on your first point.
Step 8 - Use top menu to navigate to edit then cut
Step 9 - Save image, making canvas slightly bigger than suggested
Step 10 - Edit layer style to add glow or drop shadow.
Step 11 - (Optional) Use blur tool to soften glow edges
Step 12 - Save as .png
Step 13 - Open background in pixlr express
Step 14 - Use add image to add to background
Step 15 - Scale to fit

This video really help me alot. How to make beautiful pictures out of simple view.
Open source photoshop alternative is a very GOOD thing! Will pass this along to Rob who is a major photoshop user and who would prefer not to pay the $20 each month for it. Thanks for the tutorial, it helps to see how similar it is to photoshop
Wow $20 a month, that builds up.. Yeah I think as a Photoshop user he'll be pretty happy with it, I think there are certain features missing, though I haven't found them yet!
