Illegal Construction in the Bayous (Steemit Exclusive)

in #pipeline6 years ago (edited)

The Bayou Bridge Pipeline is a proposed 162-mile long crude oil pipeline that would permanently destroy hundreds of acres of wetlands and threaten the drinking water, food and economy of the multiple Parishes along the route. The disappearing wetlands in Louisiana were a large contributor to the destruction seen when Katrina hit and the continued destruction has caused a significant rise in water levels - contributing to climate change - impacting people, plants and animals that depend on the Bayous.

Today I saw some of the destruction first hand.

Despite an injunction issued earlier this month, construction crews were out and working.

Pipeline monitors reported construction in other areas of the proposed route as well.

Horrific that they keep working even after the injunction. These criminals have no shame!

They'll write off the fines as the cost of doing business, take a few tax breaks, pay some kickbacks and still make bank :(

What is the rule of law among friends, anyway?
