Animals You Probably Won’t Want To Meet

Deathstalker
Already we know from the name that this can’t be good. The deathstalker is a highly venomous scorpion found mostly in North Africa and the Middle East. It is responsible for over 75% of scorpion related deaths every year. For adults the result of an attack would be excruciating pain. For children however, it’s a case of fever, coma, convulsions, and paralysis before their lungs fill up and they drown in their own fluids. So yeah, keep away from these things.

Rhinoceros
They look like they weigh more than my truck and they have a big old horn that isn’t exactly saying, “come pat me”. So we’re probably not about to approach one for a hug but just for the sake of interest; rhinos have terrible eyesight, which is not good for us when considering they are easy to startle and can run up to 40mph.

Stonefish
If there’s one thing I don’t trust, it’s a sea-dwelling creature who feels the need to also be camouflaged. The abomination calmly waits for other fish to swim by before opening its jaws and consuming its prey, all in less than .015 seconds. Also known as the “world’s most venomous fish”, stepping on its spines will at best cost you your leg and at worst, your life.

Great White Shark
This creature is the stuff nightmares are made of. Greta white sharks typically don’t like to eat humans as we have quite a high bone content. The only trouble is, these fellas find it difficult to distinguish between what is what and so employ the “shoot first and ask questions later” method. Which is why human shark attack victims usually have a bite taken out of them before being left to bleed out.

Poison Dart Frog
When it comes to amphibians and insects, employ the rule that if it looks bright and colourful then it is probably harmful. About two inches long, the poison dart frog has enough to kill around 20,000 mice. The poison is located on the surface of the skin which means that if you touch it, it will probably kill you.

Polar bear
Don’t you just want to go up to these things and give them a big hug? If you answered yes to that question, I urge you to reconsider your trip to the Arctic Circle. Be aware that the world’s largest carnivore is not afraid of you. It has no natural predators and will eat anything that contains meat.

Box Jellyfish
Trust me when I tell you that you cannot trust these things. Box jellyfish may be encountered tropical and sub-tropical waters, with most incidents occurring around the east coast of Australia. Killing more people every year than sharks, crocodiles, and stonefish combined, this box of death has been labelled “world’s most venomous animal.” Its venom is so potent in fact, that in some cases treatment consists of little more than last minute CPR.

Puffer Fish
Whilst the Japanese often tempt fate knowing that they can die if they eat this fish and it hasn’t been prepared and cooked correctly, most of us recognise that a puffer fish is a dangerous thing to eat. It has poison capable of paralysing your diaphragm which of course, means you can’t breathe.

Carpet Viper
This fella is responsible for the majority of snake bite deaths in the world. Unfortunately most of the bites occur in areas that lack modern medical facilities so the victims slowly bleed to death over the course of several weeks.

Brazilian Wandering Spider
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Brazilian wandering spider is the most venomous spider in the whole wide world. . They are often found hiding in houses and cars of densely populated areas, especially during daytime. This means bad things for civilisation; or at least those people who hang out where it happens to wander.
