My Highest Score Student & Her Secrets to Success

This is Fei Fei and she got the highest marks in the recent piano exam, in Nov 2018. She reveeeaaaled to me, her secrets to success!🙌

Out of 66 students, 24 students took piano exams, from Elementary level, Grade 1 to Grade 8. Fei Fei got 92% and achieved as the
✳️highest scorer✳️. She's so happy when I surprised her a big present. 🎁

How did she achieve it? She said:
🎵 I practice piano everyday. If not everyday, maybe just skipped one day.
🎵 I love all the music that was given to me. From the books or written out by teacher.
🎵 I like to read the "stories" (words) written on the music (lyrics) because they're funny and interesting.
🎵 I like to sing aloud the stories and play the piano at the same time!

It's true... I believed that talent is, of course, needed to be complimented with interest in the subject, hard work and focused learning. 👍

Singing plays a big role in all aspects of musical journey. That's the most basic ability of musicianship. People in ancient times, before inventing musical instruments, sang and clapped. Our voices are the first musical instrument given by God. 🗣

Secret or no secret: Gratitude
Parents should teach children how to be focused and grateful for what teachers teach them. I'm also thankful for parents who cooperate with me. Respect each other by communicating regularly and pose some issues to be solved together. May it be students lack of practice or demotivated. 😕

Another secret: Her parents bring her to travel every year... I believe travelling also contributes a massive learning experience and milestone in our lives. Having a day trip at a nearby city or town, visiting local tourists spots is also considered as "travelling" too. She learned to be resourceful and curious about the topics I teach. I find that satisfying... ☺

Therefore, from Fei Fei, I also learnt to be a better teacher.
