1 November 1755, Portugal, 10:16 (local time) an earthquake 8.7 on the Richter Scale almost completely destroys the city of Lisbon.
The resulting tsunami drowns the survivors. Estimated between 70,000 and 100,000 people die.
But Lisbon reborn from the ashes and destruction and today is a great European Capital, a wonderful City full of live and beautiful things to do and see.
