The nutmeg flower
The nutmeg tree has started to have fruits again. The fruit slits when it is ripe. The red flower that you see here covers the seed. Both the seed and the flower have medicinal value. The flower is dried and stored and if in excess, sold to herbal medicine shops. Same for the seed too.

It’s my first time to see the flower. I knew only the dried seed used for spice.
it really is a great spice and addition to dishes like Biriyani.
I didn't have an idea to use nutmeg for Biriyani. I must try it!
please do try. I think there are recipes and videos online
We call it പത്തിരിപ്പൂ here. We can spot a lot such trees here in cardamom estates. We collect these flowers and dry it in the sun and sell later. It yields a good price in market. Nutmeg was a good source of pocket money for us while we were in schools!
ah nice to know that
To be honest, I have not seen a nutmeg tree/flower my whole life. Wow.
ah, you must plant a sapling. I think it will grow there
Love when I learn something new. Nutmeg is part of our xmas tradition here in Canada. They spice our egg nog:) Beautiful flower, sayee:)
