Photoshop or Crypto-Camera?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Steemit and new to bitcoin and blockchain, so... I'll try to not sound too ignorant :-)

As far as i understand, the blockchain is a public, distributed, unforgeable ledger of past transactions, right? Well, i had this idea...

You know that when you see a picture, or a videoclip, nowadays you can never be sure if you're looking at something real or if it has been "photoshopped". I'm no technical mastermind, not any kind of mastermind, come to think of it, but i thought: couldn't we take the blockchain to camera's? Press the button to take a snapshot and instantly place that snapshot in some kind of public, distributed, unforgeable ledger of past realities?

Like i said: maybe this is stupid, unfeasible or maybe it has already been implemented... If not, i'm sure there are a lot of smart people here who would know how to do something usefull with this idea.
