Run!

I took this photo after breaking into an abandoned waste treatment plant. The air was still and the solitude of the massive compound really weighed on me. I made my way up a ladder to get a better vantage point. It was so quiet that I could hear myself breath between the shallow gusts of cool night breeze. With the heightened sense of awareness that only fear and isolation can deliver, I took note of my surroundings and carefully scanned for any other lifeforms.

I found myself on the top of some kind of large vat or tank. I walked across it hearing the booming echos of my footsteps resounding within the vacant cavity beneath me. I was en route to a fenced bridge that connected this tank to another. When I reached it, I carefully began traversing this outdoor catwalk in the pitch dark of the night. Sensing a photo opportunity, I stopped and deployed my trusty old tripod. I fumbled for a few moments in the dark to secure my camera to its mount. I framed a picture to try and capture the sheer length of this bridge that spanned across the two large holding tanks.

As I was trying to make out the dark scene through my viewfinder, I looked down briefly to rub my drying eye and I then heard a loud click. Suddenly, the two large overhead lights turned on without warning. I was temporarily blinded due to the intense brightness. As my eyes adjusted to the light, I looked up to and could make out what looked like a man-zombie-creature standing merely 20 feet from me! I hastily pressed the shutter release on my Nikon D700 and got the fuck out of there without looking back! When I got home, this is the image I captured.

Reality: I took a photo of my friend on a bridge in the city and it just so turned out that his glasses, the lighting, and composition of my shot all came together to make an eerie horror photo.

Sort:

So true about the glasses... I didnt notice it until I read the subtext but now I cant take my eyes off of them. I think the shadows are also key to the shot turning out the way it did :)

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! Yes, it was cool how it turned out and it was a fun night out taking pics in the city trying out different shots.
