Euploea mulciber, commonly known as the Striped Blue Crow or Blue Tiger butterfly, is a strikingly beautiful and ecologically significant species within the family Nymphalidae. This butterfly, native to parts of Asia, including India, Southeast Asia, and China, is renowned for its vibrant coloration, unique patterns, and fascinating behaviors.
Physical Characteristics
One of the most captivating features of Euploea mulciber is its appearance. The butterfly boasts a wingspan ranging from 75 to 95 millimeters. Its wings are predominantly dark brown to black, adorned with striking iridescent blue bands and spots. The upper side of the wings exhibits a prominent blue streak running from the base to the tips, complemented by a series of smaller blue spots near the edges. The underside of the wings is more subdued, with a brownish hue interspersed with white spots.
