The lotus, also known as the water lily, is the flower of the plant Nelumbo nucifera. In Chinese culture, the lotus is a symbol of cleanliness, elegance, and unyielding spirit. It is loved by scholars and poets and appears in many poems and songs. For example, the description "the dewy lotus leaves seem endless green, the lotus flowers reflected in the sunlight have a special red" is rich in artistic charm and personal demeanor.

The late Tang Dynasty poet Yang Wanli vividly depicted the touching scene of "a small lotus just showing its sharp corners, already has a dragonfly standing on its head" which vividly describes the scene of a dragonfly landing on a lotus bud that has just emerged from the water surface.

Medicinally, every part of the lotus is a treasure with high value. Lotus leaves contain a large number of vitamins and amino acids that can help to dispel dampness and reduce swelling, and clear away heat. Lotus flowers have a sweet and cool taste, entering the heart, spleen, and kidney meridians with effects like stopping bleeding, moisturizing dryness, cooling the blood, and calming the heart. Lotus stamens can dispel wind and disperse heat, with a noticeable effect of inhibiting platelet aggregation. Therefore, drinking lotus leaf tea in summer can not only clear away heat and reduce fire but also have beauty and weight loss effects.

In general, the lotus is not only beautiful but also has a noble symbol and rich medicinal value. It can be said to be a treasure in traditional Chinese culture and medicinal plants.
