Baker Mountain Hike

in #photographylast month

We are in the Adirondack Mountains spending time with family and friends. While in the mountains, Gerad and I decided to get out to try a new to us mountain hike. Friends suggested Baker Mountain since the trailhead is only a few miles from our cabin.

The Baker Mountain statistics won’t sound impressive. The distance from the trailhead to the summit is 0.9 miles. The elevation is 2,452 feet with an ascent of 884 feet. Our Italian National Park Hike last month sounds much more impressive.

We just wanted to get outside and see something new while getting some exercise. We parked the car near Moody Pond and started up the trail.

What could be better than a trail through a mixed wood forest? The color green is soothing to the eye while the wind blows through the branches and the birds sing in the treetops. Then, stop to breathe in the fresh smell of the forest. Wonderful.

There is a marked trail to the summit. Most of the hike involved walking over and around boulders and tree roots while avoiding the muddy patches since there had been several days of light rain.
