Hippodrome's old ruins in Istanbul, Turkey for free
In January 2019, I was in Istanbul.
I participated in a free walking tour there, and the meeting place is in front of the fountain in the square where the famous Aya Sophia is located.
See the following link for details! English and Spanish tours are provided.
You can visit and listen to the famous Aya Mosque, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Obelisk, Hippodrome, etc. in the old town of Istanbul (no entry, no explanation)
What I'm going to explain in this article is the Hippodrome I heard at the end of the tour.
Hippodrome is a stadium where tank racers and gladiators fought during the Byzantine era.
The free walking tour guide gave us information about the old site. I don't know a lot of people.
This place is not visited during a free walking tour. The guide told me only the location and asked me to go if interested.
The tour ends anyway, so it's a good time to visit.
The location is this place.
According to the guide's instructions, when the old ruins of Hippodrome found underground, the government tried to push it away.
It is said to have been left open for free and to preserve well.
Enter the entrance and go down to the basement, and there are exhibits of hippo drums.

Like me, you can take part in a free walking tour or visit this place individually.
Anyway, this place is not heard on the free walking tour, and admission is free.
The explanation is quite well in English, so if you are interested in Turkish history, such as Byzantine and Holy Roman Empire, be sure to visit this place.
ps free walking tour is really free, not free. Tip base.
If you don't like the explanation of the guide and give 0 won, I have nothing to say,
If you are a little satisfied, please (pl... plz...) give a tip.
Sometimes it's really bitter when I hear from the guide that Koreans go on tipping tips after a free walking tour.
