Swapmeet Finds #2487
Jumping forward a few years, we have this class photo with Clark second from the left in the middle row. I think Clark was born in 1936, so this must be his graduation from junior high.
All of this was handwritten on the back of the picture (probably by Clark himself):

Amazingly enough, the Kennedy School is still there - 68 years later! I found it at 125 63rd St. N., Birmingham, AL 35212. Only now it's called the "Kennedy Alternative School". Here's a 2012 picture of the same doorway from Google Street View (http://bit.ly/2JARYJg):
