I am really sorry to hear that. I cannot imagine how terrible this must be. But I try to understand and have compasion for you and i truly deeply wish you peace and good moments. Where did you use to live?
I think this for a long time and there are no obvious and simple solutions

There were many reasons
Main reason Russia does not want to see Ukraine as an independent country
That is sad; the Ukraine is a country and that should be respected, but more than that every human being should have the right to enjoy Peace

Hating or wanting more land or fighting over different cultures or etnics or religions is useless. With wars there is only people that lose.
