It's hard to say Fall isn't my favorite time of year.

Granted, the colors haven't started changing yet and probably won't do so until between the 3rd week of October and the 2nd week in November if we're lucky, but as photographers, our busy season is upon us.
Weddings, high school seniors, families, etc... this is when my wife and I do our best work.

The key thing we've found is scouting out locations which we think will provide for the best scenery when the colors finally DO change. It's hard some years, too, because the colors never change the same way every year. A good year is when it all happens at once, rather than in spurts.

I used to think Summer was my favorite season due to all the outdoor activity and swimming - although I don't get out to do those things much these days, and outdoor summer photo sessions get so hot sometimes that it's hard to remain professional while it feels like you're sweating off 15 pounds in the course of 45 minutes. So, it's nice when Fall finally comes around to grant some relief with cooler days.

For the past few years in a row now, whenever we advertise that we're doing Fall mini-sessions, we've packed our calendar. This year, however, was a little different. After last year's awesome results, this year we packed the calendar with full-sessions.

We got so many full sessions this year we that we didn't even have room left to offer the minis. They all came to us - we didn't even advertise beyond our website and our Facebook presence.

We are so grateful for our client base, and we do all we can to retain them as their lifetime photographers if possible. Already, we've got families we've shot weddings, high school senior portraits, family sessions, maternity & newborn sessions, and even family reunions for.

When we are chosen as a family's photographer, they are bringing us into some of the most important moments in their lives and giving us a unique opportunity to watch and document how their family grows. I find that the use of Fall as the background has this unique and delightful way of bringing out a family's true warmth.
