James River - Springfield, Missouri

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

Bumped into this image in my archive of RAW files, figured I'd edit it up a little and see what you all thought of it.
I used to live near a steel bridge that crossed this river which is used as part of a biking/walking path that cuts through the southern stretch of town. The river runs from east to west, so if you're lucky you can catch awesome sunsets from this spot. Sights like this are very common there. In fact, the oddity of this picture is that he was the only one in it. There are usually a handful of people at any given time.

Very restful feel to this picture.

Thank you. :)

Great play with the scale and colors. Looks almost surreal.

I love the simplicity of this. Did you have to do edit out a lot of things to make it look like this? It seems like nobody else is there and everything is pristine. That is really rare to find in real life sadly.

I actually did not. I did edit only 1 thing out, and that was the smoke stack of our power plant in the upper-right side of the tree line. The water actually was this pristine. :)

Wow you are lucky to have such a nice body of water there. Over here there would be guaranteed to be all kinds of junk floating in the water not to mention people generally causing mayhem.

This river is supposed to be our water supply, so they're pretty stringent about keeping it clean.
