Is there anyone who does not dream of meeting monkeys living in the wild with the possibility of touching and feeding them? 🐒🍌🐵

Probably not. At least I don't belong to those people.🙈

If you love animals, wildlife and monkeys, there is a spot you can't miss when you're on Phuket Island.
This is Toh Sae Hill in Phuket Town, which is called Monkey Hill. The reason why, becomes fairly obvious after a few hundred metres of hiking, when you come across a group of macaques - a medium-sized, chiefly forest-dwelling Old World monkey that has a long face and cheek pouches for holding food... 🐒🍌

Cuteness overload

Toh Sae Hill is the highest hill in Phuket Town and there are TV and radio stations at the top of the hill, as well this is a popular recreation spot where many locals jog on a daily basis. Monkeys live in groups, all over Monkey Hill, and there is about 400 macaques in total.

You have to agree that they have pretty good view up there!🐒🐒🐒

During the day time you can drive up to the viewpoint and peak by car or motorbike. At 16-17:00, the road to the summit is closed and the only way to get there is to walk to the top (it takes about 30-40 minutes one way). The road is not long but the steepness makes it quite difficult to go fast.😅

There is NO ENTRANCE FEE or any other costs. But if you want to feed the monkeys, take some bananas🍌 or peanuts🥜 with you, which are their favorite treat (you can also buy it at the top of the hill).

When you're going to the hill, you will notice a lot of dogs, more than the monkeys (at least on the beginning). When you are at the top, you will see more and more monkeys, most of the time begging for food from tourists.🙈🥜🍌

BE CAREFUL - those animals are wild and may be AGGRESSIVE!

When you're feeding monkeys, be careful not to make sudden movements. Although they are used to the presence of people and all look very innocent, do not forget that those are wild animals living in their own environment. I advise against stroking the monkeys (especially the older ones). If you decide to do it, you can't make a sudden movements from the back. The monkey may receive that as an attack and will bite you. Also watch out for personal items, monkeys can be mean and take your handbag or your personal stuff from the inside (especially if you have drinks or food there).🙈🙈🙈

On the way up we had purchased some water for the walk and had them in a white plastic bag, as soon as the monkey’s saw that, one of the older ones came up and it took him about 3 seconds before the bag and the water was in his hands. So be careful with any bags especially white ones. 😉Hide the bananas and peanuts in your pockets and be discreet when handing them out, otherwise you might have a few monkey’s around you begging for food. 🥜🍌

So many great photos! Those monkeys are really neat, I want to see some up close sometime! Very cool creatures.

Thank you! I really appreciate it. It was my first time meeting them face to face in their natural environment, but those monkeys we not that bad. I'm going to Bali (Ubud) in few weeks and I've heard that monkeys from there are really naughty.
