Fine Piece of Danish Architechture
Beautiful Danish Landscape
Today I want to share with you two pictures of some very fine Danish arcitechture.
The main motive is the Faroe Bridge, that connects the island of Zealand, with the island of Falster. The bridge was built in the period 1980-1985, as a replacement for the much older Storstroems Bridge, as traffic grew more dense.
The bridge has four lanes for vehicle traffic, and is 1,7 kilometres long.
Today is stands like a monumental piece of architechture, and is in my opinion one of the most beautiful bridges in Denmark.
On the second picture you can see the previously mentioned Storstroems Bridge in the background. The bridge was built in the 1930's and was ready for traffic in 1937. The bridge is 3,2 kilometres long and contains two lanes for vehicle traffic, and one railroad track.
In a few years this bridge will be gone, and a new one will be built further behind it.
Many years of heavy traffic has worn it down, and as the future predicts, traffic will only get heavier, the need for a new bridge is imminent.
