Peeling Ceiling

It’s obviously very costly to maintain an enormous castle like the Pena National Palace, and some things get neglected in favour of others, even if it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Walking along one of the corridors I happened to glance up and note not only the extensive weathering and general decay of the ceiling, but also the intriguing architectural design of six ridges coming together in a star-shape, both making for an interesting composition…
