Lions of Shih Tzu
In St. Petersburg there is a tradition to decorate bridges, embankments and buildings with stone lions. The most unusual of them are the statues of Shih Tzu.
These are figures of Chinese lions - a gift to St. Petersburg in 1907. Each sculpture weighs 2.5 tons, and their height is 4 meters 50 centimeters.
One lion holds a ball in its paw, a symbol of light, knowledge and treasures. The second lion-mother holds the paw of a small lion cub. The sculptures look menacing and majestic.
