Spelunking and Caves within Caves 📷

in #photography7 years ago

So, this is one of my favorite places to go and one that is great to bring friends along that are new to hiking. Its such a unique experience and not too difficult to get to, its makes an awesome adventure. I've been to and explored these times 4 times now and I went with some friends and one who hadn't been before a couple of weekends ago.

It's an easy but fairly long hike in and then a short steep hike up to the mouth of the cave alongside the mountain at Canyon Creek. Its called the canyon creek ice cave, as there are ice plugs in some of the passages year round. And usually some icicles and ice boulders to see as well that freeze through the winter.

There is some awesome scenery on the hjike in.

And then, when you start getting close to this cave, you realize just how large it really is.

The mouth of this beast, I'd guess is about 30m high, quite an awesome entrance that is for sure.

The closer you get the more miniature you look at this cave entrance.

The entrance is steep and rock but easy to get to overall. No climbing required, just a bit of scrambling and careful hiking.

I brought my tripod and good camera for some dark cave shots, which I'll make my next post, but this is a pretty nice spot to show, a great ledge for lunch and one incredible view.

As you start heading up into the cave, the view back out is phenomenal. It makes some great silhouette shots as well!

My next post will show some of the in cave shots, as its quite huge inside.

Great shot of you at the entrance as it is taken from the back of the cave, wow! Thanks for sharing your adventures with us, it is always appreciated. Keep on taking good care, thrive on and namaste :)

thanks so much eric-boucher, I really like that one too. Its an amazing spot, specially when you come out of the cave after a couple hours in the dark and get that amazing scene to see at the entrance.

Great photos @unipsycho, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the cave shots.

Thanks maninayton, ya, I'll post a few of the interesting ones. Its amazing how difficult it is to capture good cave photos. Its hard to tell what you actually get since the LCD screen on the camera in a pitch black cave looks totally different from the real photo once you download them. Thanks for the comment, and for visiting my photo sets.

@maninayton, I posted the additional shots as a new post, I hope you like em!!!

Beauty! That's what nature does

Amazing! Up voted and followed!

Thanks jasonrussel, nice to see another photographer, followed you as well.
