Mountain Solo Scramble Mount Baldy - Photographs pt2 📷
This ridge is pretty fun to scramble. Its from the North peak across to the south peak and although this piece in the front of the photo looks easy, there are some nice spots further on with exposure, hands on scrambling and decent knife edges and cliffs, making it a fun traverse.
You can see the difference here last year later in the spring compared to my hike there I photographed on the weekend in my last couple posts.
The summer colors are fantastic for these panoramas, which I just love this location for. The ridges are awesome, the lakes and skies are perfect!
That peak in the distance is the north summit, which I approached all along the ridge up on its left, an awesome scramble. The summit has a pretty serious downclimb that I'll say was pretty nerve racking to make it across to this very enjoyable ridge.
Across from the south peak there is another saddle traverse to the west ridge and still a lot of snow (good to avoid it).
This is the west peak as I approach, some serious slope up ahead, looks like some great scrambling!
Saddle Traverse, the snow was annoying, most of it was avoidable, but sections that had too much slope to go around, meant some waist deep challenges. Luckily it wasn't for very far.
Hard to see the slope here, but the slab scramble is a tough one, not so much up, but certainly coming back down it. Great fun, even if it was rather scary. Lots of exposure on this one, good to train the nerves. :)
As usual, the challenge provides great views and scenery.
This shows the rugged traverse scramble well along the distance north peak with the ridge upward on the left.
And look at that sky and the clouds. Good times....

So many delicious vistas to choose from. Im curious to know what the elevation is.
Its up to 7000ft, one of our smallest front range mountains, but for this time of year, an early season option.
Amazing views!
Nice ! :)
It's wonderful! I would like to go there someday
Would love to take that hike one day.
