East End of Rundle - Scrambling in the Canadian Rockies 📷

Had a great day of scrambling near Canmore, AB in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. This mountain is just outside of town, yet surprisingly rugged and with fantastic views like all of our great mountains.

This hike is very popular in the area, so its been left on my list for a long time, as I prefer more remote, more difficult and isolation mountains, however, I still really enjoyed this one, as I always do in the mountains. And as you can see, the views are fantastic, here are a few of my pictures between the rain.

This reservoir is from a dam where the town's power and water come from.

You can actually see a canal that was built and blasted through a tunnel to the reservoir from nearby Spray Lakes.

I always love looking down to a rainbow instead of up, guess you know right were that pot of gold is then hey?

I really love this picture. That steep peak is called HaLing, another mountain I've climbed several times. And St Lawrence to its right is higher and beyond, still on my list todo.

Beautiful valley as we climb through the last of the tree line.

Certaily more desolate and rocky up here, a long way to go to the summit block, behind me. All of the views are behind us on the way up.

Quite a nice high alpine meadow amoung the rocky approach.

And finally, we reach the summit and enjoy the 7 distant peaks of this long Rundle mastiff. One day, I hope to mountaineer traverse them all.

The next peak over, and beyond poses many scrambling challenges, I tackled a bit of this, but we were turning around here today without time to go on.

And the other direction from the summit, we can see the town of Canmore. I always prefer the natural views, not a townsite, but many people come up here just to see this, I guess if you live here, it adds some appeal. The great thing, is the summit has a shear cliff so you can literrally see nearly straight down to the lake and reservoir.

My party as usual stops to enjoy some lunch and the incredible view, while I scramble around capture photos and seeing every angle I can get.

A bit dark, but a great spot for a photo on this summit. Believe it or not, one way down is to the left, although there are easier routes.
