Paint Mines Interpretive Park
Put this natural wonder on your Colorado "to-do" list!
📍Find it hidden in the plains—located near Calhan, CO
(about 45 minutes away from Colorado Springs)
The park features a smaller valley packed full of multi-colored geological formations including hoodoos and spires. According to the State Historical Fund, the colorful clays (just like in this photo) were used by Native Americans. The clay was mined for use in ceremonial paint as well as pottery making.
A perfect area for any shutterbug to explore. The park includes about 4 miles of trails, with many great for all ages.
