RE: The Hong Kong from the 60'

I love Hong Kong! I wish there was more neon though, I saw a post the other day talking about the old style of Hong Kong from the movies and the streets were lined with neon signs of different shapes and colors that had a real cyberpunk, Blade Runner feel to it. Great shots!

I've been to Hong Kong first in 91 and it was really different than it is now. Today's government try to bring down the neons signs for safety reason they say. In 91 it was full of neons and paintings on the buildings and Aberdeen was full of junk and sampan. I remember also the walled city next to Kai Tak airport. I love Hong Kong but I prefer the old time.

That sounds amazing, I wish I could have had the chance to see it in those days. There is something about LEDs that just isnt as good as neon, I guess we always have the movies though

Yes, today they use a lot of LEDs to light up some shop, mainly pharmacy, but they keep the neons for the big street signs. Hong Kong without neons is not Hong Kong anymore. :(

Agreed, progress is a great and necessary thing but some things should remain the same. When they removed all the neon and bright signs in Las Vegas it just wasn't the same and I hope it never happens in HK
