"low temperature" is relative, I'm from the northern Norway, beyond the polar circle, orchids was never to be found in our garden :-)

It's not only "low temperature" that restricts what we can grow there ... "long winters" too, plus that we get less effect from the sunshine due to the inclination of the earth (I can't believe some people still believe the earth is flat!), less sunshine in general as it's always overcast (despite the midnight sun)!
