Graffitimania

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

So I just gave our art corner a visit and took some pictures of graffiti that stood out there. The whole place is pretty interesting and has a unique atmosphere: Abandoned, yet alive; colorful, yet dark; industrial, and yet creative.

Large warehouses make ideal places for artists. Because artists like to think big, they need the space to work. So it's no wonder, really, that a lot of artists have moved their studio there. I always get into a very creative mood when I walk through these places, and the people are mostly quite friendly, and yet, of course, a little bit strange as well.

There are also some regular offices there, as well as clubs which in the night spring alive with loud music and reverberations.

There are of course quite a few graffiti there and perhaps these are the best I could find.

Anyway, in case you liked these impressions consider an upvote and a follow ;)

Wow, some of the graffitis are really amazing :)

I find graffiti to be such an intricate and amazing type of art. I use spray paint for my pots, and I cant imagine how they can create such beautiful pieces with this medium! the coolest part of seeing these murals in person is how different they look from 3 feet away to 30 feet away. Its an under appreciated talent in my eyes.

Yeah, I totally agree. I think it's because most people associate them with negative things, like crime, bad neighborhoods and so on. But it's a way to deal with these things for a lot or people, it's a creative form of expression. So in fact I think it is actually very helpful for many people and should be respected as such. Thanks for your input @madpotters!

Agreed! In San Diego I am seeing a lot more incorporation of street art on walls and power boxes etc. and I love it. What is amazing to me is seeing how the artists respect each other by not tagging over someone elses work. In NY you see partial murals or beautiful pieces marred by disrespectful people with spray paint. So sad.

I would be happy to see some of those graffiti if you get a chance ;)

oo that is a lovely idea for a post - Ill work on taking some more shots of my favorites!Thank you for the inspiration.
