Double Rainbow in Livingston Guatemala

Rainbows are caused by sunlight that is refracted by a raindroplet. Refraction occurs because every color has its own unique wavelength and thus travels at different speeds through a transparent medium. These different speeds will cause slightly different reflection trajectories that split the sun light (which is composed of all different visible wave lengths plus some) into many colors. Double rainbows are formed when all of these lightwaves get reflected twice inside the water droplet. For this reason the secondary rainbows ALWAYS have their colors inverted and appear in the opposite order. The secondary rainbow is in fact a reflection of the primary rainbow!
