Burj Khalifa ~ DUBAI

in #photography10 years ago

More or less a snap shot (no tripod) of the the Burj Khalifa is slated to be surpassed in terms of height. Man's quest to puncture the stratosphere may never cease! I've never walked through a longer mall than the Dubai Mall... I thought it would never end honestly. The metro from the airport is very inexpensive and makes it crazy convenient to get to sites like this. Highly recommended if you have a layover.

It's not the easiest site to photograph from this close up as there will be significant distortion unless you are using a tilt shift lens (which I was not).

Note: Extreme brightness lighting up dust flecks on the surface of the wide lens. Could be retouched, but prefer to show it as it was sometimes.

Beautiful shot @timelapse! Thanks for sharing it with us.

That is a stunning piece of photography! The reflection in the water is very striking and the bright blue at the top of the building looks very cool!

much appreciated! Interestingly, the area is swarming with people, but this long exposure helps to hide this fact.

Do you use a filter that deletes movement or does the long exposure do it on its own? I know a little about cameras but am by no means well versed. I fiddle with a canon D3100 that is my fathers, but rarely take it off standard modes.

The long exposure eliminates elements that are moving (humans/cars) - this can also be done during the daytime, but you would need to use a strong ND filter (black glass) otherwise, it would get overexposed

So try a small aperture f16 - depending your camera's ISO sensitivity you may have to back that down to f8 and maybe 400 ISO - just tinker with a 30 second exposure at night using M setting. The worst that will happen is that you'll get a Black frame telling you you need to add ISO or open up the aperture.

Great advice! I'll have to try that at niagara falls sometime when they light it all up. Thanks for the suggestion.

Is this Real... ?

Yes indeed - you can check it out when you visit Dubai.

WOW That is absolutely brilliant! The shadowing effect on the main tower is phenomenal. What a photograph! This would make a great poster or even be fabulous framed in general.

@alchemage - thank you - it's like Vegas x3 - it's weird how some landmarks are so iconic like the Eiffel tower, but we see the Burj a lot less often in the US in imagery.

That is absolutely GORGEOUS. It's so clear it almost looks photoshopped. Great phot @timelapse Keep them coming. :)

thank you! :)
