Travel shots #1 USA - How arriving too late resulted in my most epic roadtrip photo

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Last year in March I was doing route 66 in an RV, one of my best adventures ever. We drove all the way from Chicago to Los Angeles in 3 weeks and one of the most awesome places I visited was Joshua Tree Park in California.

Unfortunately we arrived just slightly too late... Even though there were several campsites located in the park, only a few of them offered spaces for an RV. After being told that there was no room for that night anymore, we were sent away to the overflow campsite. Situated about 20 miles further along the road we went to check it out since it was a free place to set up camp. By the time we arrived, the sun had already begun setting and that gave me one of the most epic roadtrip photos I ever took:

This overflow 'campsite' was literally only a patch of sand on the edge of the desert and could only be reached by going a bit offroad. There were no facilities of any sorts but that made the adventure all the more rewarding. After we set up our camp a few other people joined us and after it got literally pitch dark it was time to get some sleep for the next coming days... Joshua Tree Park. There is actually a photo of that visit in my very first introduction post but many more will follow!

Great shot that was meant to be! Looking forward to more posts from you!

Thank you! Yes I guess it was :) I'll post a lot more for sure, follow me to keep being updated

Nice shot, followed!

Thanks, I appreciate it!

Great photo! I love to hear about the unplanned adventures!

Thank you! More than happy to share :)

Nice timing - it worked out great to get that sunset shot.

Also, I came across the same video post as you earlier today. Don't waste too much time on comments to the posts where people rip stuff off. That same video was posted a dozen times today by different accounts. You'll see it a lot. Don't provoke them to retaliate with flagging you for no reason just because you called them out on it. It's best to ignore them, especially when you're just starting out. There are some bigger, more established account holders that do that clean-up work :-)

Thanks for the advice, you are right, it could only work in my disadvantage in the end which kinda sums up the major flaw in this platform...I won't give up though and will try to keep pressing forward with my posts and hopefully get some appreciation for it because right now it is literally almost for nothing

Wow! Amazing shot :0)

Thank you! Much appreciated :)

Ur welcome. Amazing to be able to capture that :0) love the colour
