Morel Mushroom Hunting
The 2012 Colorado Wildfires burned 246,445 acres. We hoped these burned woodlands would be good for morel mushrooms. Four men hunted for mushrooms for hours yielding nothing but good pictures and hiking. Then this baby English Bulldog named Seymour Butts did what we could not. He found a tiny morel mushroom.
Seymour was nice enough to share the morel instead of eating it himself. It would have been nice to find more since morels are delicious, but it was good to see that we had chosen a good location.
This was my first time in any of the burned woodlands. It was really cool. You can see very far since there are no leaves. It was neat to see what's left and exciting to imagine what the future will bring.
I enjoyed this hike very much and I hope you enjoyed the pictures. Thanks for reading!
Those dogs are so damn cute!!
Thanks for sharing these great pictures. The second picture of the trees is my favorite. Cute dogs as well.
That little guy is a pitty? reminds me of a baby frenchie. sooo freakin cute!! I love the smashed face dogs. I use to have a pug way back in the day!! So fun!! My ex gf took her though...It was ok though, she had more room for her to run..anywayzz
Looks like a nice day out!
The burn trees give the place a bit of an eerie feel. Looks like a neat area to hike!
Steem on!
Thanks for your reply. Seymour is actually a English bulldog. Definitely not a pitty, thanks for pointing that out to me.
I first walked through a burned area of forest in Wyoming almost 15 years ago. I remember being a bit saddened by all the destruction but I much prefer your perspective: "It was neat to see what's left and exciting to imagine what the future will bring."
Also, I don't think I've ever heard of morel mushrooms before but now I want to try them out!
Thanks for sharing!
the wildfire was devastating on the woodlands of Colorado all the animals must have been kill by the fire, the government should practice afforestation by planting news trees in those areas in other to regenerate the woodlands to its former nature. The photo shows how big the destruction of the fire was on the woodlands. nice and quality photos @themightyvolcano
Thanks. There were some baby Aspens planted in the area and they spread well so it'll all grow back someday.
Thanks for sharing about it didn't knew about that till now but its an experience of a lifetime
Sorry for your bad luck. I find about 5 in an hour when I walk through the woods in my backyard.
That's awesome. I wish I had morels popping up in my backyard.
What a good dog. There are dogs that train to get truffles. Maybe he has some experience. Hopefully the forest will recover soon because they help our lives
Yes I enjoy the pictures, it explains more to your posts
I've never seen morel before
