trying rains, October 27th

The difficulty with vision lies in the flow of time as we grow, our lenses expand. However, our growth is often times not linear, but exponential based on countless variables. It is not to presume my understanding even approaches completion, yet like undiscovered masterpieces, they appreciate with age. Seven years running is no small potato, but it’s nothing to scoff at as many before me have put in the hours; do your time, like the man says.

Learning lasts a lifetime, if one is desirous, this photog might add. Like a rainy day keeps you indoors, sometimes, a burst of tears shuts one in, but we can push through if we understand it is only but a moment. To allow the time tick away slowly, with melancholy, or in a brisk, jubilant jog is our choice. To let finance limit your economies, allow money to stifle our hedonic pleasure feels mistaken, the key is within. As such, I take time away from rote memory and routine, and muse on my meditations by simply living. The more I experience, the more I can reflect, and at times, this is not readily apparent. The perspective, near-sighted is like a telephoto lens aimed at a subject’s visage. Perchance, it proves too close; we must take a step back, for room to breathe. Every moment does not need prominence to make an impact, approaching a subject too closely can omit plenty of detail. All of these drops of rain will inundate, if gathered all at once. Peaks and pitfalls exist without question, even if cold, it pays to pay no mind to the light rain.

This student reflects on a range of topics: a 5th year of higher education to the pursuit of tech for art and economic value all the way to sober and otherwise, inebriated days with desire. All of these matters do and do not define this individual, and today, as wet and cold as any other this autumn in New England, your friendly neighborhood black kid learns a little more.
