Wednesday: Script Excerpt

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

A few months ago, I started writing another play that will eventually be full-length. So far, this is my favorite excerpt from it that comes about five minutes into the first act.

The following picture was taken in Georgia in 2015 as my boyfriend and I drove to Atlanta. I find myself very often inspired by landscapes and scenes when I begin writing, and though this isn't THE scene that inspired the setting of the above play, it's flat and wide. Lure, the above piece, takes place in the Midwest during a winter snowstorm. Hank and his violent and older brother, Dave, are waiting for a man to arrive with a briefcase, carrying what they can only hypothesize to be 1 million dollars. A couple of deaths occur near the end of the play, posing questions about family loyalty, greed, and the effects of years of verbal abuse.

I get some pulp fiction vibes from this :)

Thank you! I'm a huge fan of Tarantino and Mamet, and honestly, most of my characters have foul mouths. Profanity: it's a fun tool to work with. :)

Very nice scene on the shot and the dialog haha, great!
