Finding The Wall Of Anguish

After filming with @channeljaytv yesterday afternoon, I went home to relax for a couple of hours and the was back out with Mike (instagram: mikehienhold) to do filming for a series that I am currently producing. After filming at several locations, I remembered a tunnel that I had seen photos of and how it would fit the filming perfectly. We climbed down a ravine and within minutes of being in the tunnel. We came across this.

I have done around a dozen tunnels and seeing this type of architecture was a first (not the only first in this tunnel). We followed a typical cement tunnel for some time then hit a small opening. On the other end of the opening was a circle tunnel, light blue in color with large rust spots.

As we got inside of this tunnel we quickly realized that it was made of metal. Now I have seen many things in tunnels. Plastic sections of tunnel, multi level tunnels and even one that opened up to be 30 feet wide and 20 feet tall. But never had I even imagined seeing a metal tunnel! For obvious reasons. Water, moisture and metal does not go well together. Rust and decay happens very quickly, yet for some reasons the builders of this tunnel went with metal anyway.

The metal section lasted for around 500 feet and ended in a square room that had a 50 foot tall ceiling. On the right side of the room was a large steel door, that we could only guess at where it opened up to. The wall facing the end of the metal tunnel had a large drop of. Where I saw pictures of this tunnel, they had dubbed this the wall of anguish.

Although we did not get to explore the whole tunnel (did not have gear to climb the wall of anguish), this was the one of the most interesting and unique tunnels that I have seen to date. Which made it the perfect location for filming!
