A few years ago I was given some old Pentax/Takamur M42 lenses and they worked great (55mm f1.8 and 200mm f4) but as you say Chromatic Aberration is higher than in modern lenses so if that is critical then you can either stop down or try a minus violet filter.
Chromatic aberration for photos that you won't sell is just fine, but for something like selling photos is not great at all, you can do it in post processing but sometimes can take a while to remove everything really well.
