This isn't a troll post, it's just about being under bridges.
I don't live underneath a bridge, I just work there. And not one specific one; I work under bridges all over the world.
This one's pretty close to home - the new 35W Bridge in Minneapolis. If you remember the bridge that fell down in 2007, this is the one that replaced it. This is a two-shot shift panorama with the 17mm tilt-shift.
I use that lens a lot underneath bridges. Shifted in the direction opposite of perspective correction, it enhances the three-dimensionality of a vault photo, as in this one of the Ford Parkway Bridge between Minneapolis and St. Paul. That effect is good on anything that has an overhang, like buildings, or trees, but it's especially powerful with a good bridge vault.

Both of these are HDR images, though with very different effects. I thought the one on the left with all of the graffiti really benefited from the style of HDR that approaches illustration, while the shifted vault photo I went with a more standard dynamic range compression with some detail enhancement, because what's strongest about it are the shapes.
These two are also of the same bridge: the Jacques Cartier Bridge in Montreal. The one on the left is the long approach on the Island of Montreal side, while the one on the right is the main span headed for Saint Helen's Island in the middle of the river. They're not quite what you'd see if you turned around from looking at the other one, but there's only a few hundred feet of difference. The main span vault was taken with the 17mm and has the same dramatic shift effect, while the approach was taken with a normal 50mm.
I've talked before about photos beneath bridges in Rovaniemi, Finland and New Orleans, and this post is going to be long enough with out repeating them here. You can see those in their individual posts.
This is the Wabasha Bridge in Wabasha, Minnesota, along the Mississippi River in the southeast corner of the state. This one is a little less dramatic because there wasn't a good place to set up with the 17mm. The first pier was just too far away for that to work. So I switched to my 135mm, which gave me the opportunity to use a neutral-density filter and take a long exposure in the middle of the day.
That worked well enough that that winter I decided to do it again with a different bridge: the Mackinac Bridge between the two peninsulas of Michigan.

This is the most recent photo here and also one of my most-favorite. I just love the green, and the ice, and the smoothness of the water.
It's been a few years since I've done one of these, as I've been focusing on other things, but I think they're still some of my best work. I'm still photographing bridges, but apart from the Finland trip I have not been able to get good opportunities from directly beneath. I have some bridges on my list, though, and some new cities to explore. (If anyone knows good bridges in Copenhagen or Malmö let me know.)
I imagine there will be some new ones to add to the collection before too long.
I like the look of the older architecture its fascinating, whoever did the graffiti on that one bridge must have been pretty brave to get up there lol
There keeps being new graffiti, too. You can just walk up that first span so I can see how some stupid kids would get all the way out there. But the ones on the centerposts baffle me. You'd need a pretty significant boat, and nerves of steel. Or maybe a really long ladder in an especially cold January. (But the nearest water access is not close.)
That top pic is beautiful.
The starkness of the ice against the smooth concrete really works.
Nature doesn't care.
I like the photo on Wabasha Bridge, the shadow looks like a tree and it catches my attention in a way that I can not see anything else.
Really good photos!
I take photographs of them. :)
Really nice pictures. Is it wrong I was looking for a place to live? :) Kidding of course.
There's room for an apartment complex under one or two of these.
Views not to many get to see!
