Mask from Labutina Street
Some time ago I wrote the post about masks on the facades of buildings in St. Petersburg. There are about 20 thousand of masks, about approximate calculations. If you look closely, you will see that they all differ from each other. This mask caught my attention with a lively, natural expression of the face. It seems that the sculptor was working with a model, not making an abstract image based on templates.
About the history of this house I could not learn almost anything. It was built in 1888. Probably it was a regular profitable house. At the beginning of the 20th century a women's primary school was located here. That's all the information, no names of owners or life stories.
