Getting Artistic with a Fisheye Lens
When you own DSLR cameras, it’s only natural that you want to experiment with your shots. Interchangeable lenses are a great way to get a new perspective on your photographs. Today we’ll talk about fisheye lenses. A fisheye lens is simply an ultra-wide angle lens, as you can see from the example photo. Many people think this lens is just to have fun with and not to be taken seriously. It’s often used to film music videos that are aiming for a more “trippy” effect.
However, this lens is quite versatile. With a super wide angle, you can get everything in your shot, giving viewers complete context. If you use a short focal length and a small aperture, objects that are touching the lens will still be in focus and not blurry –making for detailed close-ups. It may not be great for serious portraits, but it is awesome at adding character and an artistic dimension.
Because of the wide view, a fisheye lens works amazingly well on landscape photographs and pictures of nature. As mentioned before, it’s like a mini macro lens offering nice details. Most importantly, you can really have a lot of fun with this lens so consider adding it to your list of interchangeable lenses.
