Unlike Africa where lemurs have disappeared in the face of competition with other primates, lemur-bambou-2ceux Madagascar have evolved safely on this large remote island. It is thought that the first lemurs arrived in Madagascar on floating trunks, following natural disasters. These lemurs that colonized the island were very primitive animals. They were similar to the smallest current lemurs: the Microcèbes, the size of a mouse. The lemurs lived happily until the arrival of man in 600 AD. Since then, the destruction of their biotope and their intensive hunting have disappeared several species forever.
