These stone carved sculptures on the roofs represent the history of these buildings and are also the artistic garnishes of the architecture of the time. It shows the importance of these totems to our ancestors.

This is the city gate tower, it was built in the Ming Qing dynasties. There are four of these city gate towers in total, one on each side of the wall. Each of these towers have two levels and three roof hinges. They were originally used as defensive outposts.At dusk, the buildings seem to have draped a grey silver cover over them.

All along the walls, there are these posts with Chinese red flags and lanterns swaying in the wind。

The details on the towers are so intricate!

This is the archer tower, it's used as a watch tower and also a defensive outpost for archers. It's built between the city gate towers and the drawbridge tower. The sides of the archer tower are quite a bit higher than the actual wall and have some wall cutouts to allow archers to shoot arrows from a higher position.

These are the small tower outposts, equally intricate in terms of decoration.

If you look at the tower in the picture below, on the second floor, there is a vague outline of a figure like from a shadow play. This is why legend calls these towers, the ghost towers or fantasy towers. The onlookers will see ghosts from their own imagination.

This is an ancient stone sundial which was used to tell the time by the phases of the sun.
