Ice Rain
Ice rain is what's you get when it's raining, but surface temperatures are below freezing .
At January 2011 heavy ice rain was the reason for downing many power lines in Moscow region, our meditation center I mentioned in some other post was cut off from electricity for two weeks.
Last night we had some light version of that, no big damage, but some nice pictures available )
These trees will probably never straighten up

Ice rain do you mean "hail"? град?
No, not exactly.
град is small pieces of ice falling down. Here's water drops falling down, but got instantly frozen because surface temperature is below zero. That can happen by certain atmospheric conditions.
