The LAST SUPPER and more from LA IGLESIA DE SAN FRANCISCO (CONVENTO DE SAN FRANCISCO / SAINT FRANCIS MONASTERY) / SAN FRANCISCO CATACOMBS in Lima Peru. This painting of the Last Supper is distinctive in that the participants are all 'reclining' which is consistent with the Passover tradition.
From the official website: "Last Supper, oil on canvas, attributed at first to Diego de la Puente, Flemish painter born in Mechelen-Belgium in 1586, his training must receive in their homeland or in Antwerp, he entered the Society of Jesus in 1605. on the death of Bernardo Bitti in 1610, probably he was appointed his replacement so its presence in Peru is between 1610-1620.
There in the Cathedral of Santiago de Chile, a similar work in which the author's signature is, instead of San Francisco to be restored, appeared the date of 1698, in the lower right corner, so it could be due to a follower of the late artist's work, as Diego de la Puente had died 35 years before 1 December 1663."
And now...The CATACOMBS! Let's go in...
