Hi @slowwalker that is the most complicated decoration I have ever seen. You are right the wood around the dragon is made of very small pieces that almost look like plaited. My first impression was like yours I thought it was made of reed too because it is easy to work with such flexible material. But I am glad that they decided to use wood as it is material that require good skills and may be matches the material of dragon. Amazing ancient Art!
