A Rose by Any Other Name... ( 6 Photos from Our Rose Garden )
A series of original photographs from our rose garden to start the week off with some positive energy.
Nikon D5300 50mm f1.8 Lens
We have a small rose garden over at my father-in-law's house. Each year we add another plant with a different color rose to the mix. At the time these were taken only the pink and orange plants were in full bloom. It was an overcast day which was great, it allowed for softer photos without the harsh sunlight shadows.
Cell phone ~ it's what I had with me at the time. :-)

For this last image I used the "Selective Color" setting on the camera and set it to blue while taking a picture of the roses 2 images above. That might sound a bit odd, however it allowed the camera to pull just that color range from the petals against the background. It was not very vivid but was just enough to allow me to enhance it in Photoshop and pull it over to lavender color you see in the image.

The red and white roses are just starting to bud, I will take pictures of those for a future post as they begin to bloom.

If you ever spot a "Perfume Delight" at the Nursery, but one...
I posted a photo of one of mine with a Praying Mantis sitting on it...
@pocketechange
That is very cool. I have never seen a Mantis in real life, outside of an exhibit setting. Funny how it was just looking up at you.
