Baby's First Birthday

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

This is the first year I had a decent camera at one of my neices/nephews first birthdays. I really like how the photos came out, so I wanted to share. All of these photos are taken with a Canon 7d Mark II with a 55-250mm lens and edited using PaintShop Pro.

So that no one has to worry, let me start by saying that she did NOT get ahold of the candle. She didn't even come close. Although she tried very hard!

Mommy doesn't feed her a lot of sugary sweets. So this was her reaction after her first bite of the icing. It was a bit of a shock to her! But she soon got over the shock and enjoyed her cake.

She initially started out using her hands, but eventually seemed to decide that her hands weren't enough. So she decided to attempt eating the cake with just her mouth.

Then she decided to switch back and forth for a while.

She doesn't like to be the only one eating. She kept trying to share her cake with Mommy and Daddy. She didn't understand why no one was eating cake with her!

I can just hear her saying "Oh man! What have I done?!?!?!"

She finally figured out that if she used BOTH hands at the SAME TIME, she could pick up even more cake at once!

While she did not smear her icing ALL over her.... she got really close. Although, at the end, she had more on her chair then she did on herself.

Here she decided that she wanted to try the cardboard. I mean, it makes sense, right? If the cake tastes good, then the cardboard should too!

Her little headband at the end of it all. Surprisingly, it didn't fare out too horribly!
