水母 Jellyfish
Jellyfish are pretty weird. They are transparent, so you can only see them under a certain angle. Did you know that Jellyfish are ancient? They started appearing in the Cambrian Era, which was 500 millions years ago. They don’t have any brains, only a very primitive sensory system. They also have poisonous tentacles, which they used to capture prey. Apparently a lot of jellyfish can’t actually swim. They just drift under the ocean current. Some however, like the moon jellyfish that are on display at Sydney Aquarium, do swim via contraction and pulsation. Another fact: the collective noun for jellyfish is fluther - a fluther of jellyfish. Sounds very descriptive doesn’t it. Jellyfish on display at an aquarium are always beautiful under colourful lights. Grab a camera and go check it out!
水母是一种很奇怪的物种。它们是透明的，在海里只能在一定角度下才看得見。水母是很古老的物种，在五億年前的寒武纪就开始出现。它们没有脑袋，只有简单的触觉系统。它们的触角有毒，用来捕捉食物。其实有很多水母是不会游泳的，只能随波漂流。而有些水母，像在悉尼水族馆的月亮水母，则可以伸缩前进。水母在不同颜色的灯光底下特别漂亮。強烈建议带上照相机到附近的水族馆看一下。
