The Moon in Detail - Shot from the back gardensteemCreated with Sketch.

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

I decided to go and capture some shots of the moon on this lovely summer's evening in Surrey, UK.

These images were shot with Panasonic FZ72 at 60xZoom. I need to invest in a tripod to stabilize the shots a bit more I think.

“The moon had been observing the earth close-up longer than anyone. It must have witnessed all of the phenomena occurring - and all of the acts carried out - on this earth. But the moon remained silent; it told no stories.

I can't quite believe you got these without a tripod.. but I have done the same resting on a wall when needs must, so hands up for having the patience to do this. Really nice pictures and the crater details are so good you could name most of the big ones ! I'm really pleased to see you've taken these.. next thing you'll be getting an autoguide telescope and photographing deep sky objects !

love the quotes.. really nice touch :)

here's a link to my astro-tripod.. it's a video tripod which I inherited from a friend who left it at my studio. It's nice and heavy with a fluid head for easy alignment.. stuff moves across the sky quicker than you expect when trying to catch it.

really looking forward to see what you get up to with the stars ! milky way next.. it's right up overhead up till September

Nice, I can't believe you took these without a tripod. I took a few pictures of the super moon a few months back, I'm always amazed at the detail we can see from this far away.

I was stabilizing a little bit on a low wall and my knees, but still far too much shake!

I would've just got a blurry mess without a tripod. Cloud and atmopsheric haze can mess up the shot too. You did really good here though : )

wow, incredible pictures!

What is the most difficult part in shooting the moon? I'm in awe of your photos!

Its difficult to minimize camera shake without a tripod.

Thanks for looking in!

Very nice photo of the moon!

Amazed as ever how well the moon is visible in all its details
