I just can't imagine that a smaller country like Belgium has an abandoned town like this. Love the shot ... I'm such a sucker for abandoned places like this. I also heard about that hospital in the wood in Belgium ... do you happen to know if it's still up or did they take it down last yet?
Indeed, that's weird, right?! In the Netherlands this would not be an option, we are very 'happy' when we find a little square of space... But in Belgium actually more abandoned places still exist and they are not cleaned up without a reason.
I have been drooling over photos of Belgium abandonments for as long as I have been into urbex. That country is world renowned in urbex circles! A "Belgium urbex" google image search says it all.

Okay, some of those photos are downright creepy (to me), but I love the art on the side of the buildings. The flower of life picture next to the whale is really nice, and the crow/raven is intriguing!

Yes, Chernobyl is the 'best' (and saddest) example of a ghost city! I might go there someday, will have to check if it's reasonably health to go :-)

The artist that painted the bird is an amazing artist, why can't all graffities be that artistic? If someone could do a graffiti like that i would let him griffiti my house without a doubt
It would be great if more graffities become 'art'! In my city the best known graffity groups are hired to create pieces when a part of the city is being rebuild for example! (To hide the ugglyness of the building place)if

Thanks for that! Yes, artists are great at spotting interesting places to 'create'... I'm afraid it will not stay up though, I've heard basically all the houses have now been closed and protected with wooden planks and such.
