Catharsis: The process of emotional release / Catarsis: el proceso de liberación emocional

Catharsis is a Greek word that refers to purification and is used in psychology to explain the process of releasing negative emotions. The term became popular in the psychotherapeutic field thanks to Freud's psychoanalysis.

Catharsis and psychoanalytic theory:

Catharsis is the emotional release that occurs with the free association method. In psychoanalytic theory, this emotional release refers to the "purge" of unconscious conflicts. The method of free association or cathartic method was originally created by Breuer, a friend of Freud, but the latter developed it as part of his psychoanalytic theory.

Catarsis es una palabra griega que se refiere a purificación y es usada en psicología para explicar el proceso de liberación de las emociones negativas. El término se hizo popular en el ámbito psicoterapéutico gracias al psicoanálisis de Freud.

Catarsis y teoría psicoanalítica:

Catarsis es la liberación emocional que se produce con el método de asociación libre. En la teoría psicoanalítica, esta liberación emocional se refiere a la “purgación” de los conflictos inconscientes. El método de asociación libre o método catártico fue creado originalmente por Breuer, un amigo de Freud, pero este último lo desarrolló como parte de su teoría psicoanalítica.
