Following @ryulincoln through the forest - Infrared Photography
Every time we have gone out in the woods, we see something new. @ryulincoln is very perceptive and notices many things I overlook while walking on a trail outdoors. We switch between leading through the forest, in this case I followed in his footsteps as we walk through the dense wooded areas.

Something my friend made me aware of is listening to the tone of and the calls of the birds near by. As we travel down the trail we hear squawking from birds overhead, alert calls to other birds to spread the word humans are walking through the forest.
We stand around, waiting for the birds to calm down. After awhile the calls calm down, and take on more of a playful sound outdoors. That to us is a sign we are no longer disturbing the forest, and just being part of it.
Around all of the giants along the trails, I felt insignificant next to these towering trees. Capturing them in infrared reminds me of how alive they were.
Due to the dense tree cover, most of the light from above does not reach the forest floor. Though we do sometimes come across a patch of it along the trail.
As we turn around and head back to the truck the spider webs we walked through on the way in have been knocked down. So he could take off his hat, which made for a great spider barrier when walking through these forests first thing in the morning. Many spiders did not drop their webs yet so his had made for a great spider catcher. Another good reason to let him lead, hah...

I take pictures with a special camera. Its a Mirrorless DSLR that has been modified by Life Pixel to see light in other wavelengths. This allows my camera to see light in the Infrared [IR] around 1300 NM wavelength, through the visual spectrum and into the Ultraviolet A and B wavelengths roughly into the 300 NM wavelength.
I carry many filters on me to make the photos you see in my blog, these filters screw on my lens and help me isolate certain wavelengths for certain scenes. These filters can be IR / UV pass-through filters to assist me get a natural photo taking out the UV and IR light. Or I may use a Infrared pass-through filter capture just IR light. I can do the same with UV light as well, though I need some better filters which they can cost a few hundred dollars for true Ultraviolet pass through filters. So for right now I have B + W 403 bandpass filters that still allow some IR light in, due to their cheaper material.
There are also exotic glasses made of sapphire and germanium I am open to working with to replace my silica glass hot mirror with a material that allows even longer wavelengths of infrared to enter my cameras sensor. Special sensors, lenses and filters of that material would be needed as well, so it would be a big project but one that may give some even more unique photography results.

Hah! He's the spider catcher... lol
The forest does look special in infrared... sort of more delicate too and feathery...
As you mentioned, it's nice to see the sunlight sifting through and having spots along the forest floor... Great mood shots! :)
@ackhoo hah yeah I am thankful for his spider catching gear. I was loving the ferns and underbrush as well with the sunlight coming through.. Thanks much.
